Carrot - Cabbage kootu





              One super simple kootu variety. This recipe is healthy and tasty. you can try them with grated coconut or coconut milk added.


Ingredients:

For kootu:
Cabbage                  -    1 cup (chopped)
Carrot                      -     1/2 cup (chopped)
Moong dhal              -    1/4 cup
Green chillies           -    2 no's
Garlic pods              -     4 no's
Tomato                    -    1/3 cup (chopped/half tomato small sized)
Ginger                     -    1/2 teaspoon(finely chopped)
Turmeric powder      -    1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder            -    1/2 teaspoon
Salt                         -    1/2 teaspoon
Water                      -    1 cup

To Tamper:
Oil                      -     2 tablespoon
Mustard seeds    -     1 teaspoon
Dry Red chilli      -     2 no's
Jeerakam           -     1/2 teaspoon


Method:

  • Keep the pressure cooker on counter top and add cabbage, carrot, moong dhal, green chillies, garlic pods, tomato,ginger into it.
  • Next add Turmeric powder, Chilli powder, Salt and water
  • In simple all ingredients together in your pressure cooker.
  • Close the cooker,run for 1 whistle and open the cooker once steam settles.
  • Heat the oil in a small kadai, add mustard seeds(allow to splatter),add jeerakam, dry red chilli 
  • Add the tampering to your kootu.
